Narrative:

Passing FL365 to assigned altitude of FL370 center asked us if we heard their transmission to level off at FL350. We did not nor did we read it back. Just prior to this I was on the service phone to let the flight attendants up to serve following turbulence. We could both have missed the call earlier or it could have come while I was off. We were given a turn to 180 degrees (90 degrees off course). Reaching that heading we were turned back east on course. We were not told of any traffic conflict or given a number to call.
