Narrative:

I was flying from trm to bur, controller asked me to climb and level off at 12000 ft, I was climbing at 1500 FPM through 11000 ft, engaged autoplt, but my ADI tumbled and autoplt flew through 12000 ft. I had to push nose over aircraft and autoplt, but we already went 12500 ft, less than 30 seconds. We leveled off at 12000 ft, ADI also came back normal. All flight instruments indicated normal. I could not find out what really went wrong, but it could have been prevented if I had scanned instruments more closely.
