Narrative:
After takeoff from teterboro we were instructed to climb to our assigned altitude of 6000 ft. My copilot failed to call out 1000 ft to go and I flew to 6500 ft before leveling off and starting a descent. The controller mentioned our altitude and we told him we were descending back to 6000 ft where we arrived just a few seconds later. We never heard of any conflict or problem with this deviation. I believe this occurred because of the missed callout, 1000 ft prior, very rough air with updrafts and high rate of climb. In the future I will use a lower rate of climb, include a 500 ft callout in class B or C airspace and just pay extra close attention to instructions from ATC. Supplemental information from acn 471560: I was PNF. The PF, who recently received his type rating in the aircraft, climbed through his assigned altitude twice on this leg of the trip.

Title: A CLBING CITATION JET OVERSHOOTS ITS ASSIGNED ALT TWICE, ACCORDING TO THE FO WHEN SW OF TEB, NJ.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM TETERBORO WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CLB TO OUR ASSIGNED ALT OF 6000 FT. MY COPLT FAILED TO CALL OUT 1000 FT TO GO AND I FLEW TO 6500 FT BEFORE LEVELING OFF AND STARTING A DSCNT. THE CTLR MENTIONED OUR ALT AND WE TOLD HIM WE WERE DSNDING BACK TO 6000 FT WHERE WE ARRIVED JUST A FEW SECONDS LATER. WE NEVER HEARD OF ANY CONFLICT OR PROB WITH THIS DEV. I BELIEVE THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THE MISSED CALLOUT, 1000 FT PRIOR, VERY ROUGH AIR WITH UPDRAFTS AND HIGH RATE OF CLB. IN THE FUTURE I WILL USE A LOWER RATE OF CLB, INCLUDE A 500 FT CALLOUT IN CLASS B OR C AIRSPACE AND JUST PAY EXTRA CLOSE ATTN TO INSTRUCTIONS FROM ATC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 471560: I WAS PNF. THE PF, WHO RECENTLY RECEIVED HIS TYPE RATING IN THE ACFT, CLBED THROUGH HIS ASSIGNED ALT TWICE ON THIS LEG OF THE TRIP.
