Narrative:
I was approaching palatka larkin airport (28J) from the north. I confirmed that the active runway at that time was runway 27, with the use of CTAF. Approved traffic pattern for runway 27 was left traffic. Due to a lack of concentration and a routine habit of making right traffic at home base (dab), I continued a right traffic pattern to larkin runway 27, instead of the recommended left traffic pattern. When turning from base to final is when I realized my mistake. Fortunately I did not cut off anybody in the traffic pattern or create any collision situation. I continued to make a full stop landing on runway 27 larkin since my priority was to fly the plane. The one situation that triggered my senses and made me realize my mistake was when another aircraft made a CTAF call saying that it was entering a 'left 45 degrees for runway 27 larkin.' the reason for my actions were simply due to a serious lack of concentration. Most importantly this is the last of my such actions.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A GA PVT PLT ENTERS THE TFC PATTERN FROM THE WRONG DIRECTION AT 28J, FL.
Narrative: I WAS APCHING PALATKA LARKIN ARPT (28J) FROM THE N. I CONFIRMED THAT THE ACTIVE RWY AT THAT TIME WAS RWY 27, WITH THE USE OF CTAF. APPROVED TFC PATTERN FOR RWY 27 WAS L TFC. DUE TO A LACK OF CONCENTRATION AND A ROUTINE HABIT OF MAKING R TFC AT HOME BASE (DAB), I CONTINUED A R TFC PATTERN TO LARKIN RWY 27, INSTEAD OF THE RECOMMENDED L TFC PATTERN. WHEN TURNING FROM BASE TO FINAL IS WHEN I REALIZED MY MISTAKE. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT CUT OFF ANYBODY IN THE TFC PATTERN OR CREATE ANY COLLISION SIT. I CONTINUED TO MAKE A FULL STOP LNDG ON RWY 27 LARKIN SINCE MY PRIORITY WAS TO FLY THE PLANE. THE ONE SIT THAT TRIGGERED MY SENSES AND MADE ME REALIZE MY MISTAKE WAS WHEN ANOTHER ACFT MADE A CTAF CALL SAYING THAT IT WAS ENTERING A 'L 45 DEGS FOR RWY 27 LARKIN.' THE REASON FOR MY ACTIONS WERE SIMPLY DUE TO A SERIOUS LACK OF CONCENTRATION. MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS IS THE LAST OF MY SUCH ACTIONS.
