Narrative:
While doing a training flight south of the lgb airport, I got overly involved with the instruction and failed to notice the plane's location in relation to the sna class B airspace. I looked out and saw that we were 4500 ft eastbound past ema and eva oil rigs, and possibly in sna class C airspace. We immediately turned to the west and continued with the lesson, then landed at lgb (home base). We were on the verge of the airspace. I usually get flight following to avoid any problems, but did not on this flight. No other planes were involved. It was a temporary loss of positional awareness with reference to the class C airspace.
