Narrative:
DC9 crossed 500 ft overhead directly at 1.12 NM north of taylor VOR eastbound at +/-400 KTS. Just had been handed off to valdosta approach. Approach claimed they had no aircraft in my vicinity. When asked a second time another controller came on frequency and said she would coordinate with jacksonville to the south. DC9 turned northbound at 15 mi east. Event took place too quickly for action. Saw DC9 only when it was full in my windscreen. Controllers continued to deny its existence even when it turned into their airspace. DC9 was painted white with orange lettering of an airline name I did not recognize and cannot recall.
