Narrative:
How the problem arose: during the second to last landing in a series of touch and goes. Contributing factors: failing to divide attention between my student's actions, ATC, and collision avoidance. Aircraft circling above tpa off approach end of runway, ATC's conversation with another aircraft while we were on crosswind turning downwind. How it was discovered: as the wheels touched down, I realized I had no memory of receiving a clearance to land. ATC did not give any indication that we landed without clearance, and had been very quiet since we turned downwind. My student is somewhat sure we were cleared turning downwind. Corrective actions: none taken immediately, on later flts in the traffic pattern I've been making a note of each clearance and landing. Perceptions, judgements, decisions: I was paying too much attention to my student's actions. Actions or inactions: failed to verify clearance with AC. Factors affecting the quality of human performance: it was a beautiful day with no other traffic in the pattern, very relaxing.

Title: INSTRUCTOR PLT OF A CESSNA 172 ON A TOUCH AND GO TRAINING FLT REALIZED UPON TOUCHDOWN THAT TWR HAD NOT ACTUALLY CLRED THEM TO LAND. NO COMMENT FROM TWR OR NO TFC CONFLICT.
Narrative: HOW THE PROB AROSE: DURING THE SECOND TO LAST LNDG IN A SERIES OF TOUCH AND GOES. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: FAILING TO DIVIDE ATTN BTWN MY STUDENT'S ACTIONS, ATC, AND COLLISION AVOIDANCE. ACFT CIRCLING ABOVE TPA OFF APCH END OF RWY, ATC'S CONVERSATION WITH ANOTHER ACFT WHILE WE WERE ON XWIND TURNING DOWNWIND. HOW IT WAS DISCOVERED: AS THE WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN, I REALIZED I HAD NO MEMORY OF RECEIVING A CLRNC TO LAND. ATC DID NOT GIVE ANY INDICATION THAT WE LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC, AND HAD BEEN VERY QUIET SINCE WE TURNED DOWNWIND. MY STUDENT IS SOMEWHAT SURE WE WERE CLRED TURNING DOWNWIND. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: NONE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY, ON LATER FLTS IN THE TFC PATTERN I'VE BEEN MAKING A NOTE OF EACH CLRNC AND LNDG. PERCEPTIONS, JUDGEMENTS, DECISIONS: I WAS PAYING TOO MUCH ATTN TO MY STUDENT'S ACTIONS. ACTIONS OR INACTIONS: FAILED TO VERIFY CLRNC WITH AC. FACTORS AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF HUMAN PERFORMANCE: IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY WITH NO OTHER TFC IN THE PATTERN, VERY RELAXING.
