Narrative:
En route on the bowie 5 arrival, we were given a clearance direct ukw and cross 40 NM north of ukw at FL240. The first officer was flying and I set FL240 in the altitude window and we both confirmed the crossing restr. I then became distraction by a message on the MFDU and proceeded to work the problem. ATC then gave us a frequency change and upon checking in were asked what our clearance was. We were 50 NM from ukw and hadn't begun our descent. We were then given a clearance to cross kagle at 11000 ft. Both the first officer and myself were distraction due to the message. One of us needed to be monitoring the aircraft more closely. ATC did not mention the error and I don't believe there was a conflict, but it was a great lesson learned.

Title: ACR CREW WITH A XING RESTR HAS A MAINT PROB AND FORGETS TO DSND IN TIME TO MAKE IT.
Narrative: ENRTE ON THE BOWIE 5 ARR, WE WERE GIVEN A CLRNC DIRECT UKW AND CROSS 40 NM N OF UKW AT FL240. THE FO WAS FLYING AND I SET FL240 IN THE ALT WINDOW AND WE BOTH CONFIRMED THE XING RESTR. I THEN BECAME DISTR BY A MESSAGE ON THE MFDU AND PROCEEDED TO WORK THE PROB. ATC THEN GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE AND UPON CHKING IN WERE ASKED WHAT OUR CLRNC WAS. WE WERE 50 NM FROM UKW AND HADN'T BEGUN OUR DSCNT. WE WERE THEN GIVEN A CLRNC TO CROSS KAGLE AT 11000 FT. BOTH THE FO AND MYSELF WERE DISTR DUE TO THE MESSAGE. ONE OF US NEEDED TO BE MONITORING THE ACFT MORE CLOSELY. ATC DID NOT MENTION THE ERROR AND I DON'T BELIEVE THERE WAS A CONFLICT, BUT IT WAS A GREAT LESSON LEARNED.
