Narrative:
Taxiing to gate on may/thu/00 at jfk the flood lights that illuminated the ramp are blinding as you taxi along taxiway alpha and into tango. There were times I could not see the yellow line taxiing into the ramp area. These lights are a safety hazard for anyone taxiing at night in that area. In addition it was very hard for us to see a vehictr linee driving around the ramp before entering the ramp area. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: during the callback the reporter stated that he had been to jfk twice in one week and that no improvements had been made with regard to the lighting surrounding a regional airline's pad situated between two taxiways at jfk. The reporter stated that the lighting is from temporary lighting stands out on the ramp. As he taxied down tango, the lighting became so strong that he could not see the centerline of the taxiway. Further, he did not see a vehictr linee moving nearby as his peripheral vision was also greatly diminished by the lighting. No evasive action was necessary to avoid the vehictr linee. The reporter suggested that the lamps should match in their reduced lighting intensity and be turned away from the direction of the taxiway traffic.

Title: AN A-300 CAPT, TAXIING AT JFK, FOUND THE RAMP AREA LIGHTS SO BRIGHT THAT THEY CAUSED A VISUAL OBSTRUCTION.
Narrative: TAXIING TO GATE ON MAY/THU/00 AT JFK THE FLOOD LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATED THE RAMP ARE BLINDING AS YOU TAXI ALONG TXWY ALPHA AND INTO TANGO. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: DURING THE CALLBACK THE REPORTER STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN TO JFK TWICE IN ONE WEEK AND THAT NO IMPROVEMENTS HAD BEEN MADE WITH REGARD TO THE LIGHTING SURROUNDING A REGIONAL AIRLINE'S PAD SITUATED BETWEEN TWO TAXIWAYS AT JFK. THE RPTR STATED THAT THE LIGHTING IS FROM TEMPORARY LIGHTING STANDS OUT ON THE RAMP. AS HE TAXIED DOWN TANGO, THE LIGHTING BECAME SO STRONG THAT HE COULD NOT SEE THE CENTERLINE OF THE TXWY. FURTHER, HE DID NOT SEE A VEHICTR LINEE MOVING NEARBY AS HIS PERIPHERAL VISION WAS ALSO GREATLY DIMINISHED BY THE LIGHTING. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS NECESSARY TO AVOID THE VEHICTR LINEE. THE RPTR SUGGESTED THAT THE LAMPS SHOULD MATCH IN THEIR REDUCED LIGHTING INTENSITY AND BE TURNED AWAY FROM THE DIRECTION OF THE TXWY TFC.
