Narrative:
Returning from french valley (F70), ca, to NAS north island via ramona and poggy on first student solo cross country, I was flying by dead reckoning and by VOR. I was following a VOR radial from homeland headed towards ramona when I became disoriented and mistook a lake for one of my chkpoints. After a few mins I realized I was off course and possibly headed towards class B airspace. I called gillespie (see) and they reported I was about 8 mi northwest of san vicente reservoir (vvssv) and to contact socal approach. Socal diverted me on a bearing of 270 degrees to la jolla and then I returned via the coast to north island through the san diego class B shoreline transition to point loma (vvspl) and to my destination (nzy). When socal diverted me, I was mistakenly in the class B (surface/100) over MCAS miramar without ATC approval.
