Narrative:
I landed on runway 10L at pdx and was told to exit at taxiway A5. I started to exit at taxiway A5 when I noticed it was a high speed exit for the terminal. It's an exit normally used by the airlines when landing on runway 28R. So, thinking maybe I heard wrong, as I had only barely left runway 10L, I swung back on the runway, as I was usually told to use taxiway A4. Of course, the tower hollered and I exited at the next right. The aircraft that followed me was cleared for takeoff before I left the runway. He was approximately 200 ft above me when he went by. If I had it to do over, I would have remained on exit taxiway A5 and contacted ground.

Title: GA PLT DECIDES NOT TO FOLLOW CLRNC FOR TXWY EXIT AFTER LNDG AT PDX, OR. ACFT ON TKOF ROLL FLIES 200 FT OVERHEAD PASSING BY.
Narrative: I LANDED ON RWY 10L AT PDX AND WAS TOLD TO EXIT AT TXWY A5. I STARTED TO EXIT AT TXWY A5 WHEN I NOTICED IT WAS A HIGH SPD EXIT FOR THE TERMINAL. IT'S AN EXIT NORMALLY USED BY THE AIRLINES WHEN LNDG ON RWY 28R. SO, THINKING MAYBE I HEARD WRONG, AS I HAD ONLY BARELY LEFT RWY 10L, I SWUNG BACK ON THE RWY, AS I WAS USUALLY TOLD TO USE TXWY A4. OF COURSE, THE TWR HOLLERED AND I EXITED AT THE NEXT R. THE ACFT THAT FOLLOWED ME WAS CLRED FOR TKOF BEFORE I LEFT THE RWY. HE WAS APPROX 200 FT ABOVE ME WHEN HE WENT BY. IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER, I WOULD HAVE REMAINED ON EXIT TXWY A5 AND CONTACTED GND.
