Narrative:
My student and I taxied out to the runup area. We did the runup and switched radio frequencys. We taxied up to the hold short line. The student called tower 'oma tower trainer X ready for takeoff (paused) runway 14L.' when he let go of the microphone we heard 'turn to heading 140 degrees, cleared for takeoff.' my student read back the clearance. I asked him if he was sure that was for us. He responded yes. Because we heard no other traffic, I allowed him to taxi onto the runway. As we did, we heard someone say 'tower citation Y..., I think someone else was talking to you.' as we proceeded to take off, we got about 50 ft in the air when tower told us we had taken off without a takeoff clearance. He told us to listen up and go to departure. Both my student and I were convinced we had takeoff clearance. I spent more time with the student on radio procedures. I also believe the controller needs to be a little more patient when giving clrncs because they know at oma a plane using the call sign trainer X is engaged in flight training.

Title: FLT INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT TAKE OFF WITHOUT CLRNC WHEN THEY MISTAKE SOMEONE ELSE'S CLRNC FOR THEIR OWN.
Narrative: MY STUDENT AND I TAXIED OUT TO THE RUNUP AREA. WE DID THE RUNUP AND SWITCHED RADIO FREQS. WE TAXIED UP TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE STUDENT CALLED TWR 'OMA TWR TRAINER X READY FOR TKOF (PAUSED) RWY 14L.' WHEN HE LET GO OF THE MIKE WE HEARD 'TURN TO HDG 140 DEGS, CLRED FOR TKOF.' MY STUDENT READ BACK THE CLRNC. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS SURE THAT WAS FOR US. HE RESPONDED YES. BECAUSE WE HEARD NO OTHER TFC, I ALLOWED HIM TO TAXI ONTO THE RWY. AS WE DID, WE HEARD SOMEONE SAY 'TWR CITATION Y..., I THINK SOMEONE ELSE WAS TALKING TO YOU.' AS WE PROCEEDED TO TAKE OFF, WE GOT ABOUT 50 FT IN THE AIR WHEN TWR TOLD US WE HAD TAKEN OFF WITHOUT A TKOF CLRNC. HE TOLD US TO LISTEN UP AND GO TO DEP. BOTH MY STUDENT AND I WERE CONVINCED WE HAD TKOF CLRNC. I SPENT MORE TIME WITH THE STUDENT ON RADIO PROCS. I ALSO BELIEVE THE CTLR NEEDS TO BE A LITTLE MORE PATIENT WHEN GIVING CLRNCS BECAUSE THEY KNOW AT OMA A PLANE USING THE CALL SIGN TRAINER X IS ENGAGED IN FLT TRAINING.
