Narrative:
After having been cleared direct to ywt VOR, first officer made a small 5 degree bank correction to the left to continue track. Later got distracted with briefing for runway 6R ILS approach for landing in toronto and forgot about the correction bank. Later realized when aircraft was 70 degrees off direct routing to ywt. Started to make a correction when ATC asked if we were going direct to ywt, they told us to proceed direct to ywt. When autoplt rolled out on heading back to ywt aircraft started a climb, autoplt was turned off at 21200 ft and proceeded to 21400 ft before climb could be stopped. ATC asked about altitude and we indicated that we were having a problem with the autoplt. We corrected to 21000 ft and there was no traffic in the area. Flight continued uneventful.

ATC ASKED ABOUT ALT AND WE INDICATED THAT WE WERE HAVING A PROB WITH THE AUTOPLT. WE CORRECTED TO 21000 FT AND THERE WAS NO TFC IN THE AREA. FLT CONTINUED UNEVENTFUL.
