Upon arrival at dfw, maintenance personnel advised there was a hole in the left outboard slat. Did not notice damage during preflight at lga. Flight crew has no knowledge of how the damage appeared.

Narrative: UPON ARR AT DFW, MAINT PERSONNEL ADVISED THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE L OUTBOARD SLAT. DID NOT NOTICE DAMAGE DURING PREFLT AT LGA. FLC HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THE DAMAGE APPEARED.
