Narrative:
Airline flight xx, jun/tue/00, departed atl/hsv with less than minimum flight attendant staffing. Flight was conducted with B737-800 as equipment substitution for B737-300 which has lower staffing requirement. Inadvertent understaffing due to lack of familiarity with staffing requirement by senior flight attendant and late notification of crew causing minimum preparation time prior to departure. Staffing requirements corrected prior to subsequent flts. Note: B737-800 requires minimum of 4 flight attendants and B737-300 requires 3 flight attendants.
