Narrative:
During my pre taxi clearance, I was given a clearance to taxi to runway 21L, hold short runway 21R at taxiway C. Parked at FBO, I did a quick glance at the airport diagram and I saw a taxiway intersect runway 21R on the northeast side of the field. I incorrectly assumed this was runway 21R and taxiway C instead of runway 21R and taxiway a. As I was taxiing, I looked at the airport diagram again, and noted that I had misread the txwys. By this time I was just crossing where I was supposed to hold short. I saw no conflict and continued across on taxiway C and informed ground control of my position. Factors: 1) approach plate shows a taxiway that extends past the end of runway 21R to intersect taxiway C instead of showing that runway 21R intersects taxiway C. 2) faded hold short lines on taxiway C. 3) airport was supposed to close in a few mins so I was rushing to get out before the airport was closed. Overall, the incident was my fault and could have been prevented if I had slowed down more and read the airport diagram better prior to starting to taxi.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A TWIN ENG AIR TAXI PLT CROSSES RWY 21R WHEN HE WAS TOLD TO HOLD SHORT AT LUK, OH.
Narrative: DURING MY PRE TAXI CLRNC, I WAS GIVEN A CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 21L, HOLD SHORT RWY 21R AT TXWY C. PARKED AT FBO, I DID A QUICK GLANCE AT THE ARPT DIAGRAM AND I SAW A TXWY INTERSECT RWY 21R ON THE NE SIDE OF THE FIELD. I INCORRECTLY ASSUMED THIS WAS RWY 21R AND TXWY C INSTEAD OF RWY 21R AND TXWY A. AS I WAS TAXIING, I LOOKED AT THE ARPT DIAGRAM AGAIN, AND NOTED THAT I HAD MISREAD THE TXWYS. BY THIS TIME I WAS JUST XING WHERE I WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT. I SAW NO CONFLICT AND CONTINUED ACROSS ON TXWY C AND INFORMED GND CTL OF MY POS. FACTORS: 1) APCH PLATE SHOWS A TXWY THAT EXTENDS PAST THE END OF RWY 21R TO INTERSECT TXWY C INSTEAD OF SHOWING THAT RWY 21R INTERSECTS TXWY C. 2) FADED HOLD SHORT LINES ON TXWY C. 3) ARPT WAS SUPPOSED TO CLOSE IN A FEW MINS SO I WAS RUSHING TO GET OUT BEFORE THE ARPT WAS CLOSED. OVERALL, THE INCIDENT WAS MY FAULT AND COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF I HAD SLOWED DOWN MORE AND READ THE ARPT DIAGRAM BETTER PRIOR TO STARTING TO TAXI.
