Narrative:
We were delayed due to WX in ord. We boarded and took off. The #1 and #2 flight attendants noticed smoke in cabin. The captain was called at 4 rings. We then went back to den. A passenger by my #4 jump seat grabbed me and stated 'I will never see my grandchildren, will I?' I calmed the passenger down while still in my jump seat. Then a young man behind the woman started sweating and hyperventilating. I spoke with him, got cold cloths as fast as I could and got back to my jump seat. I kept speaking to the passenger and we landed with no evacuate/evacuation. The fire department and paramedics came up the aft of the airplane and checked on the man. It appeared that he was beginning to have a heart attack. Maintenance came to the back to ask me what happened. Then the maintenance man could smell a faint, toxic-like smell from the air conditioning. He stated my eyes were red and I told him they were burning. A customer service agent by the name of ms X came to the back and said to me, 'the captain is making a big deal out of this, let's just placard the situation and leave.' I said, 'I believe it is a situation' and walked away. The flight was canceled and we went to our hotel rooms and deadheaded home the next day on jump seats.
