Narrative:
During the ground roll of the takeoff run from a pvtly owned sod runway, high grass retarded acceleration of flying speed and it was necessary to abort the takeoff. While slowing down (about 30 mph) the right wing struck some small saplings on the side of the runway causing the airplane to ground loop. Both wings suffered leading edge and tip damage but no spar damage. There were no personal injuries or other property damage. A factor contributing to this occurrence was past experience operating from the field under a variety of conditions and believing a successful takeoff could be made despite the high grass.
