Narrative:
Strut overheat and return for landing. After takeoff from pls, we had a strut overheat on the #3 engine. I continued to fly while the captain and flight engineer ran the emergency checklist. Per the procedure, we brought the #3 throttle to idle. We proceeded to return to pls for a landing. I advised mia of the problem and told them of our plans to land in pls. At this point the captain started working the radios and I continued to land. Upon landing in pls, I asked the tower to verify that there was no smoke or fire from the aircraft. They stated there was none, so we taxied back into the ramp and shut down.
