Narrative:
Taxi clearance. Parked at the gate in dca. Called for push on ramp frequency by mistake -- should have been on ground frequency. Ramp cleared us to push. Realized that we pushed onto an active taxiway without clearance. Ground control did not seem to mind. The first officer and I realized our mistake. Next time, pay closer attention to which radio we are transmitting on. Contributing factors: aircraft arrived late at gate.

Narrative: TAXI CLRNC. PARKED AT THE GATE IN DCA. CALLED FOR PUSH ON RAMP FREQ BY MISTAKE -- SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON GND FREQ. RAMP CLRED US TO PUSH. REALIZED THAT WE PUSHED ONTO AN ACTIVE TXWY WITHOUT CLRNC. GND CTL DID NOT SEEM TO MIND. THE FO AND I REALIZED OUR MISTAKE. NEXT TIME, PAY CLOSER ATTN TO WHICH RADIO WE ARE XMITTING ON.
