Narrative:
Carbon monoxide exposure and toxic fumes exposure while boarding passenger at out station with cargo door open (no air cart operating) and aircraft engine on fumes smelled, eyes burning, couldn't breathe and flight attendant bent over rails of passenger door trying to breathe led to agent (overcome in past and passing out) observing flight attendant and taking action by advising pilots, giving oxygen, dramamine, ice water, ice pack, vitals checked, etc. Aircraft was delayed and passenger checked for exposure and aircraft doors closed to prevent further damage. Flight attendant wrote form, advised management upon arrival at home base and advised this incident be put in mandatory reading so that all flight attendants will be aware that if cargo door is open to be sure air cart is on and aircraft is off. Never saw warning in mandatory reading with at least 2 employees affected from same condition.
