Narrative:
Departed without load closeout. We were ferrying aircraft from reno to las with no passenger and no cargo. We had planned weight manifest and fuel load. Attempted to get load closeout, but did not come up. We reasoned that the load could not change from plan so we departed. In-flight, we realized that we should have gotten a load closeout to be legal. I will be sure to get a closeout in the future. I do not feel safety was compromised, but it was at least poor procedure.
