Narrative:

After landing on runway 30 at ack, I taxied aircraft onto taxiway C on that portion that lies on the southern side of runways 6/24. Although runways 12/30 and 6/24 do not physically intersect, the extended centerline of runway 30 clearly intersects runways 6/24, just west of midpoint of runway 24. Luckily I looked down runway 24 from which departures were being cleared before taxing across to the other side of taxiway C and into parking because tower had cleared a baron to take off on runway 24. Although I held short of runway 24, I believe that there is a yellow hold short bar as you taxi off runway 30 onto taxiway C. In any event, tower never advised me to hold at taxiway C and never advised me that traffic was on the takeoff roll on runway 24. Ground then cleared me to taxi across runway 6/24 after baron took off after which I terminated flight successfully. I am still not sure whether there is a hold short bar on taxiway C which requires aircraft landing on runway 30 to hold or whether the markings require aircraft on taxiway C to hold short of runway 12. I called tower later myself (although the ground controller never admonished me) inquiring generally about the taxiway markings. The controller I talked to told me that there is a hold short bar on taxiway C for traffic taxiing off of runway 30. I am concerned that if an aircraft overshoots a landing (or aborts a takeoff) on runway 30 after an aircraft has been cleared to take off on runway 6 or runway 24 a disaster could result. Although the runways do not technically 'intersect,' their orientation creates the potential for catastrophe.

Title: PLT OF A MOONEY M20C QUESTIONS TWR CTLR PROC OF TAKING OFF ACFT ON A RWY WHEREIN THE EXTENDED CTRLINE CROSSES THE MAIN ACTIVE RWY WHEN OTHER ACFT COULD BE TAXIING ACROSS OR TAKING OFF.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 30 AT ACK, I TAXIED ACFT ONTO TXWY C ON THAT PORTION THAT LIES ON THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF RWYS 6/24. ALTHOUGH RWYS 12/30 AND 6/24 DO NOT PHYSICALLY INTERSECT, THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF RWY 30 CLRLY INTERSECTS RWYS 6/24, JUST WEST OF MIDPOINT OF RWY 24. LUCKILY I LOOKED DOWN RWY 24 FROM WHICH DEPS WERE BEING CLRED BEFORE TAXING ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF TXWY C AND INTO PARKING BECAUSE TWR HAD CLRED A BARON TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 24. ALTHOUGH I HELD SHORT OF RWY 24, I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A YELLOW HOLD SHORT BAR AS YOU TAXI OFF RWY 30 ONTO TXWY C. IN ANY EVENT, TWR NEVER ADVISED ME TO HOLD AT TXWY C AND NEVER ADVISED ME THAT TFC WAS ON THE TKOF ROLL ON RWY 24. GND THEN CLRED ME TO TAXI ACROSS RWY 6/24 AFTER BARON TOOK OFF AFTER WHICH I TERMINATED FLT SUCCESSFULLY. I AM STILL NOT SURE WHETHER THERE IS A HOLD SHORT BAR ON TXWY C WHICH REQUIRES ACFT LNDG ON RWY 30 TO HOLD OR WHETHER THE MARKINGS REQUIRE ACFT ON TXWY C TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12. I CALLED TWR LATER MYSELF (ALTHOUGH THE GND CTLR NEVER ADMONISHED ME) INQUIRING GENERALLY ABOUT THE TXWY MARKINGS. THE CTLR I TALKED TO TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A HOLD SHORT BAR ON TXWY C FOR TFC TAXIING OFF OF RWY 30. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF AN ACFT OVERSHOOTS A LNDG (OR ABORTS A TKOF) ON RWY 30 AFTER AN ACFT HAS BEEN CLRED TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 6 OR RWY 24 A DISASTER COULD RESULT. ALTHOUGH THE RWYS DO NOT TECHNICALLY 'INTERSECT,' THEIR ORIENTATION CREATES THE POTENTIAL FOR CATASTROPHE.
