Narrative:
It was a scheduled flight from ithaca, ny, to iad, washington dulles. Departed ithaca and was given several altitudes to climb to with non events. We were told by ZNY to hold at a lower altitude than our filed cruise altitude because of crossing traffic. We called the traffic in sight and ZNY cleared us to 16000 ft. At 15000 ft I made the appropriate PNF call. '15 climbing 16.' I then heard the altitude alert which confirmed my statement. Then several seconds later I heard the altitude alert again. I looked up from my low en route chart to see that the captain had climbed to 16400 ft. I instantly called out our altitude and said 'descend to 16 now!' we returned to 16000 ft and called center. They didn't call us. We confirmed our altitude of 16000 ft with ZNY and continued on our way.

Narrative: IT WAS A SCHEDULED FLT FROM ITHACA, NY, TO IAD, WASHINGTON DULLES. DEPARTED ITHACA AND WAS GIVEN SEVERAL ALTS TO CLB TO WITH NON EVENTS. WE WERE TOLD BY ZNY TO HOLD AT A LOWER ALT THAN OUR FILED CRUISE ALT BECAUSE OF XING TFC. WE CALLED THE TFC IN SIGHT AND ZNY CLRED US TO 16000 FT. AT 15000 FT I MADE THE APPROPRIATE PNF CALL.
