Narrative:
On jul/xa/00, maintenance control called for a placard for the 4L flight attendant jump seat life vest container latch. Mechanic reported the latch was difficult to keep latched. Flight attendant jump seat life vest was placarded under MEL 25-10A. Should have been 25-106 for overwater operations. Latch was replaced.

Title: AN AIRBUS 300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A FLT ATTENDANT LIFE VEST CONTAINER DOOR LATCH DEFERRED AS INOP, BUT PLACARDED INCORRECTLY.
Narrative: ON JUL/XA/00, MAINT CTL CALLED FOR A PLACARD FOR THE 4L FLT ATTENDANT JUMP SEAT LIFE VEST CONTAINER LATCH. MECH RPTED THE LATCH WAS DIFFICULT TO KEEP LATCHED. FLT ATTENDANT JUMP SEAT LIFE VEST WAS PLACARDED UNDER MEL 25-10A. SHOULD HAVE BEEN 25-106 FOR OVERWATER OPS. LATCH WAS REPLACED.
