Narrative:
Mr X seated in xg was traveling with his wife and 3 children. I noticed him moving about from his seat to the lavatory often. Approximately 1 1/2 hours out from hnl, I caught him smoking in an aft lavatory. He confessed, and passenger in the area smelled smoke coming from the lavatory. When he heard a passenger complain, he 'verbally intimidated' her. Throughout the flight he was interfering with our duties, drinking (which we did cut him off) and making crew members and passenger feel uncomfortable. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the man was traveling with a group of about 40 extended family members, including his own family. He kept hopping from seat to seat, ordering drinks from different flight attendants, until the flight attendants started comparing notes and they cut him off. It was during their last snack service before landing, that he got up twice to use the lavatory. The reporter confronted him in front of the lavatory he had just come out of. The smoke alarms did not go off. An elderly woman, who witnessed the confrontation, told the reporter later that he had been smoking and it had bothered the passenger in that area. The man did not overhear this conversation, but he did go up to the elderly woman and say, 'you had to go and say something, didn't you.' he scared the woman to the point that she asked for an escort off the plane. The captain requested police meet the flight, and the hnl police, security and, she believes, the FAA did meet the flight. They took him aside and talked to him, but let him go. The captain and the reporter had to file a report with the police.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, DC10, ORD-HNL. MAN WITH FAMILY INTOXICATED, SMOKING IN LAVATORY INTIMIDATED AND UPSET OTHER PAX, INTERFERED WITH CREW DUTIES. POLICE MET FLT.
Narrative: MR X SEATED IN XG WAS TRAVELING WITH HIS WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN. I NOTICED HIM MOVING ABOUT FROM HIS SEAT TO THE LAVATORY OFTEN. APPROX 1 1/2 HRS OUT FROM HNL, I CAUGHT HIM SMOKING IN AN AFT LAVATORY. HE CONFESSED, AND PAX IN THE AREA SMELLED SMOKE COMING FROM THE LAVATORY. WHEN HE HEARD A PAX COMPLAIN, HE 'VERBALLY INTIMIDATED' HER. THROUGHOUT THE FLT HE WAS INTERFERING WITH OUR DUTIES, DRINKING (WHICH WE DID CUT HIM OFF) AND MAKING CREW MEMBERS AND PAX FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT THE MAN WAS TRAVELING WITH A GROUP OF ABOUT 40 EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS, INCLUDING HIS OWN FAMILY. HE KEPT HOPPING FROM SEAT TO SEAT, ORDERING DRINKS FROM DIFFERENT FLT ATTENDANTS, UNTIL THE FLT ATTENDANTS STARTED COMPARING NOTES AND THEY CUT HIM OFF. IT WAS DURING THEIR LAST SNACK SVC BEFORE LNDG, THAT HE GOT UP TWICE TO USE THE LAVATORY. THE RPTR CONFRONTED HIM IN FRONT OF THE LAVATORY HE HAD JUST COME OUT OF. THE SMOKE ALARMS DID NOT GO OFF. AN ELDERLY WOMAN, WHO WITNESSED THE CONFRONTATION, TOLD THE RPTR LATER THAT HE HAD BEEN SMOKING AND IT HAD BOTHERED THE PAX IN THAT AREA. THE CAPT REQUESTED POLICE MEET THE FLT, AND THE HNL POLICE, SECURITY AND, SHE BELIEVES, THE FAA DID MEET THE FLT. THEY TOOK HIM ASIDE AND TALKED TO HIM, BUT LET HIM GO. THE CAPT AND THE RPTR HAD TO FILE A RPT WITH THE POLICE.
