Narrative:
Towing a banner from saddy hook, nj, en route to dyl, I noticed 4 helicopters on the football field below a few mi east of princeton, nj. I turned away from the area, recognizing 2 of the choppers' paint markings. I radioed the aircraft that was following 30 mins behind me and told him to alter his course to avoid the area. Less than 40 mins prior to this, I had been in contact with millville FSS for a briefing along that exact route of flight. They offered no information regarding any temporary flight restr. When I got back to our FBO, I was contacted by a government agency. They told me there was a temporary flight restr in that area. I told them I had gotten a briefing, and there was no mention of an area closed to air traffic. I then called FSS back, and they still had no mention of a flight restr anywhere in that area. I think this could have been avoided by the timely dissemination of this type of information by FSS to pilots. The government agency could also check that this information gets into the system after they issue a NOTAM.

Title: BANNER TOWING PLT OF A C182 INADVERTENTLY FLEW INTO A TEMPORARY FLT RESTR AIRSPACE DUE TO LACK OF NOTIFICATION OF THE RESTR AIRSPACE DURING PREFLT WITH FAA FSS.
Narrative: TOWING A BANNER FROM SADDY HOOK, NJ, ENRTE TO DYL, I NOTICED 4 HELIS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD BELOW A FEW MI E OF PRINCETON, NJ. I TURNED AWAY FROM THE AREA, RECOGNIZING 2 OF THE CHOPPERS' PAINT MARKINGS. I RADIOED THE ACFT THAT WAS FOLLOWING 30 MINS BEHIND ME AND TOLD HIM TO ALTER HIS COURSE TO AVOID THE AREA. LESS THAN 40 MINS PRIOR TO THIS, I HAD BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MILLVILLE FSS FOR A BRIEFING ALONG THAT EXACT RTE OF FLT. THEY OFFERED NO INFO REGARDING ANY TEMPORARY FLT RESTR. WHEN I GOT BACK TO OUR FBO, I WAS CONTACTED BY A GOV AGENCY. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A TEMPORARY FLT RESTR IN THAT AREA. I TOLD THEM I HAD GOTTEN A BRIEFING, AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF AN AREA CLOSED TO AIR TFC. I THEN CALLED FSS BACK, AND THEY STILL HAD NO MENTION OF A FLT RESTR ANYWHERE IN THAT AREA. I THINK THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY THE TIMELY DISSEMINATION OF THIS TYPE OF INFO BY FSS TO PLTS. THE GOV AGENCY COULD ALSO CHK THAT THIS INFO GETS INTO THE SYS AFTER THEY ISSUE A NOTAM.
