Narrative:

Was on 'special VFR' for landing at pwm. Lost sight of runway due to low clouds. Opted to climb and turn towards VFR WX. Was unable to maintain VFR. Controllers were wonderful and gave me priority handling. A few mi out I requested and got a heading back to the airport and landed uneventfully. I think my decision to opt for the special was reasonable due to forecast and current conditions. I had good VFR all around except pwm. I believe the WX was deteriorating as I arrived on downwind. Please call with any questions.
