Narrative:

I received a clearance of right turn 340 degrees, climb 2000 ft, departure on 124.3. For my departure from dallas love runway 31R to tyr, this was an aircraft we fly very little and you get used to the avionics in your main aircraft. During the right turn I was watching out for traffic, and not watching out for the 340 degree heading. (The aircraft I normally fly has a heading bug on the HSI that I set to assigned headings.) without the heading bug crutch, and looking for traffic at a busy airport, I turned past my assigned heading till reminded by departure.

Narrative: I RECEIVED A CLRNC OF R TURN 340 DEGS, CLB 2000 FT, DEP ON 124.3. FOR MY DEP FROM DALLAS LOVE RWY 31R TO TYR, THIS WAS AN ACFT WE FLY VERY LITTLE AND YOU GET USED TO THE AVIONICS IN YOUR MAIN ACFT. DURING THE R TURN I WAS WATCHING OUT FOR TFC, AND NOT WATCHING OUT FOR THE 340 DEG HDG. (THE ACFT I NORMALLY FLY HAS A HDG BUG ON THE HSI THAT I SET TO ASSIGNED HDGS.) WITHOUT THE HDG BUG CRUTCH, AND LOOKING FOR TFC AT A BUSY ARPT, I TURNED PAST MY ASSIGNED HDG TILL REMINDED BY DEP.
