Narrative:
Taxiing to runway 35 at manchester, nh, en route to lga, ny, with an edct of 22 mins past the hour. Decided to pull off to the side on what appeared to be a run-up area, to wait for edct. Quickly realized the 'run-up area' was beyond the hold short line for runway 35. We immediately turned back, and 'exited' the runway, holding short until tower cleared us for takeoff. The distance between the hold short line and the actual runway is significant and the aircraft was at no point, on the runway itself. I believe the contributing factors were two-fold. First, the geometry of the runway and taxiway gives the appearance of a run-up area or hammerhead at first glance. Future operations will see me more vigilant during taxi and all aspects of flight.
