Narrative:
We received a last min MEL pertaining to the wing fueling panel gauge. A known quantity of fuel was pumped into the aircraft's fuel tanks. Indications in the cockpit were normal and confirmed the proper minimum gate release fuel was onboard. I alerted the dispatch via ACARS of the need for an amended release to included the MEL. I confirmed the log book entry had been made and signed by the mechanic. He confirmed a known quantity had been pumped into the aircraft's fuel tanks. We then pushed off the gate. During the climb out, we realized we had not received an amended release. Again we sent a message to the dispatch with again no acknowledgement. Later when I spoke with a dispatcher, he advised me the computer had our message stored, but I understood him to say the printer had been turned off.
