Narrative:
On sep/sat/00, I accidentally crossed the hold short line to runway 14/32 at frg. Initially I was cleared to the active runway 1/19. During taxiing, I was contacted by ground and told to hold short of runway 14/32 which I read back. While troubleshooting intermittent problems with my backup headset I accidentally crossed the hold short line. I think that the problem was caused by the original clearance still on my mind and focusing too much on the problem with the headsets. To prevent a recurrence I think it is important to stay focused on what is happening around the airplane while it is moving on the ground or in the air.

Title: A DISTRACTED PA28-161 PLT CROSSES OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 14-32 AT FRG, NY.
Narrative: ON SEP/SAT/00, I ACCIDENTALLY CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE TO RWY 14/32 AT FRG. INITIALLY I WAS CLRED TO THE ACTIVE RWY 1/19. DURING TAXIING, I WAS CONTACTED BY GND AND TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 14/32 WHICH I READ BACK. WHILE TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT PROBS WITH MY BACKUP HEADSET I ACCIDENTALLY CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I THINK THAT THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY THE ORIGINAL CLRNC STILL ON MY MIND AND FOCUSING TOO MUCH ON THE PROB WITH THE HEADSETS. TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO STAY FOCUSED ON WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND THE AIRPLANE WHILE IT IS MOVING ON THE GND OR IN THE AIR.
