Narrative:
On taxi out, when merging into taxiway just prior to runway, air carrier Y, taxiing for takeoff at a very high speed, just missed hitting us. I had to slam on the brakes to avoid him. He never slowed down. Ground control was notified and they apologized. I asked if air carrier Y had us in sight and the pilot said yes. I asked why he didn't slow down. No answer. We were almost blindsided by the ego of the air carrier Y pilot and ground control not advising us of traffic.
