Narrative:

We were on the ramp, cleared to taxi to runway 1. I was running the taxi and before takeoff checklist, rarely looking out to see the progress of the taxi. As I got to items that I could not complete until right before takeoff, I looked up and slowly realized we were taxiing on the active runway. Before I could say anything, the PF stated that it looks like we inadvertently taxied onto a runway and to inform ATC. Their response was to continue back taxi to the end of the runway. Nothing else was said about the incursion. Contributing factors were the PF's unfamiliarity with the airport, airport diagram was not reviewed, I didn't monitor the taxi progress as close as I should have. Corrective action would include PNF monitoring outside during progress of the taxi, consultation of the airport diagram by PF and ask for progressive taxi instructions from ground.

Narrative: WE WERE ON THE RAMP, CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 1. I WAS RUNNING THE TAXI AND BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST, RARELY LOOKING OUT TO SEE THE PROGRESS OF THE TAXI. AS I GOT TO ITEMS THAT I COULD NOT COMPLETE UNTIL RIGHT BEFORE TKOF, I LOOKED UP AND SLOWLY REALIZED WE WERE TAXIING ON THE ACTIVE RWY. BEFORE I COULD SAY ANYTHING, THE PF STATED THAT IT LOOKS LIKE WE INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ONTO A RWY AND TO INFORM ATC. THEIR RESPONSE WAS TO CONTINUE BACK TAXI TO THE END OF THE RWY. NOTHING ELSE WAS SAID ABOUT THE INCURSION. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE THE PF'S UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT, ARPT DIAGRAM WAS NOT REVIEWED, I DIDN'T MONITOR THE TAXI PROGRESS AS CLOSE AS I SHOULD HAVE. CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD INCLUDE PNF MONITORING OUTSIDE DURING PROGRESS OF THE TAXI, CONSULTATION OF THE ARPT DIAGRAM BY PF AND ASK FOR PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND.
