Narrative:

We departed tys on runway 23L and received runway heading. Departure cleared us to 10000 ft and direct snowbird VOR. As we were turning to snowbird and changing from GPS to VOR indications, the copilot who was the PF at the time exceeded the climb clearance limit. Departure had handed us over to ZTL just previous to reaching clearance limit and while I was changing navigation equipment settings to go to snowbird VOR, my copilot was changing radio frequencys. This aircraft does not have altitude pre-select, and he exceeded the altitude. Center asked us to verify altitude, and that was my first indication that we had exceeded the limit. We were extremely light and had a high rate of climb. I believe that this was a case of a clearance change and radio change at a critical phase of flight.

Title: ON DEP FLC OVERSHOT AN INTERMEDIATE ALT.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED TYS ON RWY 23L AND RECEIVED RWY HEADING. DEP CLRED US TO 10000 FT AND DIRECT SNOWBIRD VOR. AS WE WERE TURNING TO SNOWBIRD AND CHANGING FROM GPS TO VOR INDICATIONS, THE COPLT WHO WAS THE PF AT THE TIME EXCEEDED THE CLB CLRNC LIMIT. DEP HAD HANDED US OVER TO ZTL JUST PREVIOUS TO REACHING CLRNC LIMIT AND WHILE I WAS CHANGING NAV EQUIP SETTINGS TO GO TO SNOWBIRD VOR, MY COPLT WAS CHANGING RADIO FREQS. THIS ACFT DOES NOT HAVE ALT PRE-SELECT, AND HE EXCEEDED THE ALT. CTR ASKED US TO VERIFY ALT, AND THAT WAS MY FIRST INDICATION THAT WE HAD EXCEEDED THE LIMIT. WE WERE EXTREMELY LIGHT AND HAD A HIGH RATE OF CLB. I BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A CASE OF A CLRNC CHANGE AND RADIO CHANGE AT A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT.
