Narrative:
Takeoff abnormality. During takeoff roll just at rotation aircraft was blown 5 to 10 feet off centerline with main wheels still on ground. Aircraft was blown by a heavy or B757 that was powering up just off the runway on a perpendicular taxiway. Once safely in the air I advised tower to discontinue takeoffs till the heavy or B757 was moved. I coordinated with dispatch and maintenance with regards to sideways stress on tires and struts prior to landing at iad. Crash fire rescue equipment was called out. Runway was very wet, which probably saved the tires.

Title: MD80 CREW WAS HIT BY JET BLAST ON THEIR TKOF ROLL ON RWY 17R AT DFW.
Narrative: TKOF ABNORMALITY. DURING TKOF ROLL JUST AT ROTATION ACFT WAS BLOWN 5 TO 10 FEET OFF CENTERLINE WITH MAIN WHEELS STILL ON GND. ACFT WAS BLOWN BY A HEAVY OR B757 THAT WAS POWERING UP JUST OFF THE RWY ON A PERPENDICULAR TXWY. ONCE SAFELY IN THE AIR I ADVISED TWR TO DISCONTINUE TKOFS TILL THE HEAVY OR B757 WAS MOVED. I COORDINATED WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT WITH REGARDS TO SIDEWAYS STRESS ON TIRES AND STRUTS PRIOR TO LNDG AT IAD. CFR WAS CALLED OUT. RWY WAS VERY WET, WHICH PROBABLY SAVED THE TIRES.
