Narrative:
Aircraft's flight plan was erroneously removed when trainee was attempting to remove another aircraft's flight plan. The error went unnoticed by the sector team, but was subsequently noticed by the next sector. Supplemental information from acn 492513: it was my second day of radar training on this sector. An aircraft into an airport canceled and I believe I inadvertently dropped the wrong flight plan. During the time that aircraft canceled, I did a flight plan readout on the aircraft listed above, and that must have been my thought at the time. The controller that relieved us from the sector noticed the mode C intruder and said nothing to the supervisor or did nothing to find out who it was. There were a handful of people that should have seen it and acted, but as a result -- a deviation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ZID INSTRUCTOR CTLR MISSES IFR BE58 EXIT HIS SECTOR WHILE PROVIDING OJT. RELIEVING CTLR OBSERVES UNTAGGED TARGET BUT DOES NOT THOROUGHLY FOLLOW UP ON DATA.
Narrative: ACFT'S FLT PLAN WAS ERRONEOUSLY REMOVED WHEN TRAINEE WAS ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE ANOTHER ACFT'S FLT PLAN. THE ERROR WENT UNNOTICED BY THE SECTOR TEAM, BUT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY NOTICED BY THE NEXT SECTOR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 492513: IT WAS MY SECOND DAY OF RADAR TRAINING ON THIS SECTOR. AN ACFT INTO AN ARPT CANCELED AND I BELIEVE I INADVERTENTLY DROPPED THE WRONG FLT PLAN. DURING THE TIME THAT ACFT CANCELED, I DID A FLT PLAN READOUT ON THE ACFT LISTED ABOVE, AND THAT MUST HAVE BEEN MY THOUGHT AT THE TIME. THE CTLR THAT RELIEVED US FROM THE SECTOR NOTICED THE MODE C INTRUDER AND SAID NOTHING TO THE SUPVR OR DID NOTHING TO FIND OUT WHO IT WAS. THERE WERE A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE THAT SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT AND ACTED, BUT AS A RESULT -- A DEV.
