Narrative:
While conducting IFR recurrency flight training, under the hood, this writer had occasion to stray into restr area R2910. I had an appropriately rated safety pilot with me, who was only looking for other traffic, not at navigation. He did not see any traffic during the short time we were in R2910, and my aircraft has a traffic alerter that did not detect any other traffic. As soon as the mistake was discovered, we departed the area to the south. Also the problem was first discovered by looking at a moving map on a GPS unit.
