Narrative:
On departure, miscom between copilot (PNF) and captain (PF) resulted in temporary altitude deviation from 4000 ft assigned to 5000 ft. Correction started immediately just before controling agency called. No known conflicts with other aircraft. More emphasis is now being placed on departure briefing even if from home field.

Title: FLC OF A GULFSTREAM 1159 OVERSHOT INTERMEDIATE ASSIGNED ALT DURING INITIAL CLB DUE TO MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE ALT.
Narrative: ON DEP, MISCOM BTWN COPLT (PNF) AND CAPT (PF) RESULTED IN TEMPORARY ALTDEV FROM 4000 FT ASSIGNED TO 5000 FT. CORRECTION STARTED IMMEDIATELY JUST BEFORE CTLING AGENCY CALLED. NO KNOWN CONFLICTS WITH OTHER ACFT. MORE EMPHASIS IS NOW BEING PLACED ON DEP BRIEFING EVEN IF FROM HOME FIELD.
