Narrative:

On dec/xa/00, approximately XA40, I made a takeoff from ZZZ airport in a sabreliner, xyz en route to roc, ny. After takeoff, I called for gear up. As we were climbing out, I noticed that the red light in the gear handle stayed on. I attempted to cycle the landing gear by placing the gear handle into the down position. Nothing seemed to move or change. I told my copilot to advise departure tower that we wished to return to ZZZ. My thoughts at the time were that I had perfectly good VFR airport that I was familiar with right next to me, why not stay close to it if I need it. As we began our return to the airport, I cycled the landing gear handle one more time -- to up, then down. I then saw 2 green lights indicating that the nosewheel and the left main wheel had locked into the down position. At about that time, ATC asked if we wished to declare an emergency. I didn't feel that I was in an emergency situation. I then saw that the normal hydraulic pressure gauge was showing about 1000 ft psi and holding. The auxiliary system showed normal pressure at the top of the green arc. I then selected off/reset -- nothing changed. I then selected manual override on the hydraulic pump switch. The normal system pressure came up to the top of the green arc and the right main landing gear locked into the safe gear down indications. The tower asked if we still wanted the fire/rescue equipment. I said 'no, that we did not need them and that we no longer had an emergency situation.' the hydraulic pump now operated normally building up pressure in both the normal and auxiliary system. The warning system also functioned normally. We checked all circuit breakers, none were out. I then explained the situation to my passenger and he asked if we could continue the trip to roc. After performing an exterior preflight inspection and finding no indication of leaking hydraulic fluid or any other noticeable problem, I decided to continue the trip and filed an IFR flight plan to roc. This flight went smoothly and I had no further problems that night. The next morning (dec/xa/00), I called a mechanic familiar with the sabreliner and told him the situation. He advised that I change both of the pressure switches that control the hydraulic pump and the warning lights in the annunciator panel as a precaution. I had this accomplished by maintenance in roc. They tested the new pressure switches as to their operation and also checked for leaks and svced the hydraulic reservoir.

Title: A SABRELINER ON TKOF RETURNED TO THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF DUE TO THE R MAIN GEAR UNSAFE WARNING AND LOW MAIN SYS HYD PRESSURE CAUSED BY INTERMITTENT MAIN SYS PRESSURE SWITCHES.

Narrative: ON DEC/XA/00, APPROX XA40, I MADE A TKOF FROM ZZZ ARPT IN A SABRELINER, XYZ ENRTE TO ROC, NY. AFTER TKOF, I CALLED FOR GEAR UP. AS WE WERE CLBING OUT, I NOTICED THAT THE RED LIGHT IN THE GEAR HANDLE STAYED ON. I ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE LNDG GEAR BY PLACING THE GEAR HANDLE INTO THE DOWN POS. NOTHING SEEMED TO MOVE OR CHANGE. I TOLD MY COPLT TO ADVISE DEP TWR THAT WE WISHED TO RETURN TO ZZZ. MY THOUGHTS AT THE TIME WERE THAT I HAD PERFECTLY GOOD VFR ARPT THAT I WAS FAMILIAR WITH RIGHT NEXT TO ME, WHY NOT STAY CLOSE TO IT IF I NEED IT. AS WE BEGAN OUR RETURN TO THE ARPT, I CYCLED THE LNDG GEAR HANDLE ONE MORE TIME -- TO UP, THEN DOWN. I THEN SAW 2 GREEN LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THE NOSEWHEEL AND THE L MAIN WHEEL HAD LOCKED INTO THE DOWN POS. AT ABOUT THAT TIME, ATC ASKED IF WE WISHED TO DECLARE AN EMER. I DIDN'T FEEL THAT I WAS IN AN EMER SIT. I THEN SAW THAT THE NORMAL HYD PRESSURE GAUGE WAS SHOWING ABOUT 1000 FT PSI AND HOLDING. THE AUX SYS SHOWED NORMAL PRESSURE AT THE TOP OF THE GREEN ARC. I THEN SELECTED OFF/RESET -- NOTHING CHANGED. I THEN SELECTED MANUAL OVERRIDE ON THE HYD PUMP SWITCH. THE NORMAL SYS PRESSURE CAME UP TO THE TOP OF THE GREEN ARC AND THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR LOCKED INTO THE SAFE GEAR DOWN INDICATIONS. THE TWR ASKED IF WE STILL WANTED THE FIRE/RESCUE EQUIP. I SAID 'NO, THAT WE DID NOT NEED THEM AND THAT WE NO LONGER HAD AN EMER SIT.' THE HYD PUMP NOW OPERATED NORMALLY BUILDING UP PRESSURE IN BOTH THE NORMAL AND AUX SYS. THE WARNING SYS ALSO FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. WE CHKED ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS, NONE WERE OUT. I THEN EXPLAINED THE SIT TO MY PAX AND HE ASKED IF WE COULD CONTINUE THE TRIP TO ROC. AFTER PERFORMING AN EXTERIOR PREFLT INSPECTION AND FINDING NO INDICATION OF LEAKING HYD FLUID OR ANY OTHER NOTICEABLE PROB, I DECIDED TO CONTINUE THE TRIP AND FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN TO ROC. THIS FLT WENT SMOOTHLY AND I HAD NO FURTHER PROBS THAT NIGHT. THE NEXT MORNING (DEC/XA/00), I CALLED A MECH FAMILIAR WITH THE SABRELINER AND TOLD HIM THE SIT. HE ADVISED THAT I CHANGE BOTH OF THE PRESSURE SWITCHES THAT CTL THE HYD PUMP AND THE WARNING LIGHTS IN THE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL AS A PRECAUTION. I HAD THIS ACCOMPLISHED BY MAINT IN ROC. THEY TESTED THE NEW PRESSURE SWITCHES AS TO THEIR OP AND ALSO CHKED FOR LEAKS AND SVCED THE HYD RESERVOIR.
