Narrative:
I was assigned to retrieve the logbook and check for tires and brakes, to notify the crew chief of possible minimum tolerance exceedance for the overnight inspection. I found that brake #2 and #4 were below limits by my measurements. I notified my crew chief and also made a maintenance discrepancy entry, in the form of a write-up on page 27 of the 'a' check work package. The acting crew chief for the shift was provided a turnover report on the workload of all overnight aircraft, which included these 2 brakes. If the mechanic assigned to the 'a' check inspection did not agree and found the #2 and #4 brake to be within limits, it should have been resolved in writing. This did not happen! The acting crew chief was involved in the removal and replacement of page 27 where the maintenance discrepancy entry had been. I became aware of this on dec/xa/00 and reviewed the work package of this aircraft. What I found disturbs me. The work package had been altered. Page 27 was not the same page I had made my maintenance discrepancy entry on. I found staple holes that revealed the staple was removed and a new/different page 27 was installed. I am concerned about all of my maintenance records to date.

Title: MD83. DURING A SCHEDULED CHK, A TECHNICIAN ENTERED A WRITE-UP IN THE CHK PAPERWORK ON #2 BRAKE WORN TO LIMITS AND ON COMPLETION OF THE CHK ON THE NEXT SHIFT WRITE-UPS ON #2 BRAKE AND #4 BRAKE WERE MISSING.
Narrative: I WAS ASSIGNED TO RETRIEVE THE LOGBOOK AND CHK FOR TIRES AND BRAKES, TO NOTIFY THE CREW CHIEF OF POSSIBLE MINIMUM TOLERANCE EXCEEDANCE FOR THE OVERNIGHT INSPECTION. I FOUND THAT BRAKE #2 AND #4 WERE BELOW LIMITS BY MY MEASUREMENTS. I NOTIFIED MY CREW CHIEF AND ALSO MADE A MAINT DISCREPANCY ENTRY, IN THE FORM OF A WRITE-UP ON PAGE 27 OF THE 'A' CHK WORK PACKAGE. THE ACTING CREW CHIEF FOR THE SHIFT WAS PROVIDED A TURNOVER RPT ON THE WORKLOAD OF ALL OVERNIGHT ACFT, WHICH INCLUDED THESE 2 BRAKES. IF THE MECH ASSIGNED TO THE 'A' CHK INSPECTION DID NOT AGREE AND FOUND THE #2 AND #4 BRAKE TO BE WITHIN LIMITS, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED IN WRITING. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN! THE ACTING CREW CHIEF WAS INVOLVED IN THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF PAGE 27 WHERE THE MAINT DISCREPANCY ENTRY HAD BEEN. I BECAME AWARE OF THIS ON DEC/XA/00 AND REVIEWED THE WORK PACKAGE OF THIS ACFT. WHAT I FOUND DISTURBS ME. THE WORK PACKAGE HAD BEEN ALTERED. PAGE 27 WAS NOT THE SAME PAGE I HAD MADE MY MAINT DISCREPANCY ENTRY ON. I FOUND STAPLE HOLES THAT REVEALED THE STAPLE WAS REMOVED AND A NEW/DIFFERENT PAGE 27 WAS INSTALLED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ALL OF MY MAINT RECORDS TO DATE.
