Narrative:
Failure to obtain changeover to tower, clearance to land. Our descent had been quite fast. ATC had previously asked us to maintain maximum speed and we had been quite busy throughout approach and landing. I was PIC and PF. Furthermore, I have just recently checked out in the S80. Our approach and landing was on runway 27L. We had been cleared for approach. Unfortunately, I did not realize how heavy our workload had become. I was distraction with many items from configuring to finishing checklists and did not notice that we did not receive a frequency change to tower. We landed without receiving landing clearance. Upon landing, I heard an exclamation from the first officer and he changed to tower. Tower said no problem, but.... In retrospect, I did not recognize how I was responding to the heavy workload to the extent that I missed one of the basics of flying -- communicate. Supplemental information from acn 495760: atl approach never switched us to tower. Both of us got distraction and we never switched to tower and landed without landing clearance. Called tower on rollout and they said that they gave us clearance to land.

Title: MD80 LWOC AT ATL.
Narrative: FAILURE TO OBTAIN CHANGEOVER TO TWR, CLRNC TO LAND. OUR DSCNT HAD BEEN QUITE FAST. ATC HAD PREVIOUSLY ASKED US TO MAINTAIN MAX SPD AND WE HAD BEEN QUITE BUSY THROUGHOUT APCH AND LNDG. I WAS PIC AND PF. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE JUST RECENTLY CHKED OUT IN THE S80. OUR APCH AND LNDG WAS ON RWY 27L. WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR APCH. UNFORTUNATELY, I DID NOT REALIZE HOW HVY OUR WORKLOAD HAD BECOME. I WAS DISTR WITH MANY ITEMS FROM CONFIGURING TO FINISHING CHKLISTS AND DID NOT NOTICE THAT WE DID NOT RECEIVE A FREQ CHANGE TO TWR. WE LANDED WITHOUT RECEIVING LNDG CLRNC. UPON LNDG, I HEARD AN EXCLAMATION FROM THE FO AND HE CHANGED TO TWR. TWR SAID NO PROB, BUT.... IN RETROSPECT, I DID NOT RECOGNIZE HOW I WAS RESPONDING TO THE HVY WORKLOAD TO THE EXTENT THAT I MISSED ONE OF THE BASICS OF FLYING -- COMMUNICATE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 495760: ATL APCH NEVER SWITCHED US TO TWR. BOTH OF US GOT DISTR AND WE NEVER SWITCHED TO TWR AND LANDED WITHOUT LNDG CLRNC. CALLED TWR ON ROLLOUT AND THEY SAID THAT THEY GAVE US CLRNC TO LAND.
