Narrative:
At approximately XA45 we were cleared for takeoff from runway 28C full length. At about 50 KTS the copilot called out an aircraft on the runway. A learjet was crossing the runway at taxiway P. He was moving from left to right. His tail was on the centerline. I aborted the takeoff and the lear was off the runway when we got abeam taxiway P. Tower called the lear several times asking what taxiway he was on. Tower thought he was crossing at taxiway south. We cleared the runway without further incident. Supplemental information from acn 495575: flight xyz (pit-stl). We received takeoff clearance on runway 28C full length. At approximately 50 KTS, I (first officer flying) called out an aircraft crossing our runway left to right at taxiway P. The captain aborted the takeoff. The learjet was off the runway when we passed taxiway P. Pit tower thought the aircraft had crossed runway 28C at taxiway south, and was clear of the runway. We had not exceeded our deicing holdover time and departed for st louis without any further problems. The WX at the time was approximately 1 SM and light snow, ceiling 1000 ft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC9-30 CREW ABORTED TKOF WHEN A LEARJET TAXIED ACROSS THEIR TKOF RWY.
Narrative: AT APPROX XA45 WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF FROM RWY 28C FULL LENGTH. AT ABOUT 50 KTS THE COPLT CALLED OUT AN ACFT ON THE RWY. A LEARJET WAS XING THE RWY AT TXWY P. HE WAS MOVING FROM L TO R. HIS TAIL WAS ON THE CTRLINE. I ABORTED THE TKOF AND THE LEAR WAS OFF THE RWY WHEN WE GOT ABEAM TXWY P. TWR CALLED THE LEAR SEVERAL TIMES ASKING WHAT TXWY HE WAS ON. TWR THOUGHT HE WAS XING AT TXWY S. WE CLRED THE RWY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 495575: FLT XYZ (PIT-STL). WE RECEIVED TKOF CLRNC ON RWY 28C FULL LENGTH. AT APPROX 50 KTS, I (FO FLYING) CALLED OUT AN ACFT XING OUR RWY L TO R AT TXWY P. THE CAPT ABORTED THE TKOF. THE LEARJET WAS OFF THE RWY WHEN WE PASSED TXWY P. PIT TWR THOUGHT THE ACFT HAD CROSSED RWY 28C AT TXWY S, AND WAS CLR OF THE RWY. WE HAD NOT EXCEEDED OUR DEICING HOLDOVER TIME AND DEPARTED FOR ST LOUIS WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBS. THE WX AT THE TIME WAS APPROX 1 SM AND LIGHT SNOW, CEILING 1000 FT.
