Narrative:
Landed at ord. Cleared to parking T12, 'K', K2. While turning 'K' to 'K2' taxi light 'on.' airport red fire car held short of 'K2' (on north side heading south). As we turned onto 'K2' car started forward. We turned on 'all' lights. Car stopped, we continued. Car started, again. We panic-stopped, car 'disappeared' under right side of aircraft nose and 'reappeared' on left side. A call to ramp common reported this occurrence. This could have been a catastrophic episode for the occupants of the fire car. Note: no lights on car except headlights. No emergency movement indicated for car.

Title: MD11 CREW WAS ALMOST HIT BY A RED CFR CAR ON TXWY K, K2 AT ORD.
Narrative: LANDED AT ORD. CLRED TO PARKING T12, 'K', K2. WHILE TURNING 'K' TO 'K2' TAXI LIGHT 'ON.' ARPT RED FIRE CAR HELD SHORT OF 'K2' (ON N SIDE HDG S). AS WE TURNED ONTO 'K2' CAR STARTED FORWARD. WE TURNED ON 'ALL' LIGHTS. CAR STOPPED, WE CONTINUED. CAR STARTED, AGAIN. WE PANIC-STOPPED, CAR 'DISAPPEARED' UNDER R SIDE OF ACFT NOSE AND 'REAPPEARED' ON L SIDE. A CALL TO RAMP COMMON RPTED THIS OCCURRENCE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC EPISODE FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE FIRE CAR. NOTE: NO LIGHTS ON CAR EXCEPT HEADLIGHTS.
