Narrative:

Before departure, I requested a routing change from out dispatcher for WX. Clearance delivery cleared us as filed. The original route and rerte did not diverge until we reached bna. Our flight was from atl to dsm. Controller stated 'you are on J73, you need to be on J45.' after a brief discussion, we were reclred on the new route. I should have requested a full route clearance to help avoid this possibility.
