Narrative:
After clearing runway 8 on reverse high speed, told by ground this was prohibited by the airport authority/authorized. At the gate we found the note pertaining to this embedded in the airport diagram page. We failed to read all the notes on this page. Doing so would have kept us from any reprimand from ground control. After the discussion about the high speed, we received taxi instructions to the gate. We proceeded via our normal route to the gate. Later we were informed that we had gone the wrong way, but that it was not a problem. Looking back at this, I feel the causes were: failure to listen clearly and habit of taxiing via the same route to the gate. Better vigilance listening to the taxi route would have prevented this situation.
