Narrative:
Flying EMS operations, I was transporting a patient from a hospital in the area to a area hospital. En route, I called charlotte county airport (to state my intentions) 6 mi prior to airfield. I was transiting from south to north over the field at 2000 ft MSL. I received no response. Charlotte county is class east airspace with the floor 700 ft above the surface. At this time, the field was notamed with a control zone to 15000 ft for an air show. I was unaware of this NOTAM. This situation could have been avoided if someone was monitoring the CTAF (122.7) or if I had checked NOTAMS prior to the flight. There were no nmacs or evasive action.
