Narrative:
The first officer advised me during preparation of the FMC, that the navigation data was out of date. He then line selected the alternate date and inserted current dates. The out of date message disappeared and we continued with our preflight duties.

Narrative: THE FO ADVISED ME DURING PREPARATION OF THE FMC, THAT THE NAV DATA WAS OUT OF DATE. HE THEN LINE SELECTED THE ALTERNATE DATE AND INSERTED CURRENT DATES. THE OUT OF DATE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND WE CONTINUED WITH OUR PREFLT DUTIES.
