Narrative:
During our preflight, we discovered a white status message on the EICAS ed 2 screen, 'ice det 2 fail!' this is an unusual message and my captain contacted operations and made a maintenance write-up in the aircraft log. 10 mins later, a mechanic arrived and fixed the problem by resetting 2 circuit breakers. He took the maintenance log from the captain and borrowed my ink pen to finish the write-up and clear it. After 10 mins, he gave us the maintenance logbook and we thought he cleared the write-up. Unfortunately, we missed to check it and it was discovered at our destination that the mechanic did in fact not clear the write-up in the maintenance logbook. A corrective action should be that the pilots always make sure the actual write-up has been cleared. Always check the maintenance log again after it is handed out. Subsequently, we did find out that the mechanic in ZZZ did in fact sign off the maintenance log, but only on the carbon copy, instead of both the original and the carbon copy.

Title: A COMPANY MECH MADE AN INCOMPLETE ACFT LOG ENTRY AFTER CLRING AN UNUSUAL EICAS MESSAGE RPTED BY A CL65 CREW.
Narrative: DURING OUR PREFLT, WE DISCOVERED A WHITE STATUS MESSAGE ON THE EICAS ED 2 SCREEN, 'ICE DET 2 FAIL!' THIS IS AN UNUSUAL MESSAGE AND MY CAPT CONTACTED OPS AND MADE A MAINT WRITE-UP IN THE ACFT LOG. 10 MINS LATER, A MECH ARRIVED AND FIXED THE PROB BY RESETTING 2 CIRCUIT BREAKERS. HE TOOK THE MAINT LOG FROM THE CAPT AND BORROWED MY INK PEN TO FINISH THE WRITE-UP AND CLR IT. AFTER 10 MINS, HE GAVE US THE MAINT LOGBOOK AND WE THOUGHT HE CLRED THE WRITE-UP. UNFORTUNATELY, WE MISSED TO CHK IT AND IT WAS DISCOVERED AT OUR DEST THAT THE MECH DID IN FACT NOT CLR THE WRITE-UP IN THE MAINT LOGBOOK. A CORRECTIVE ACTION SHOULD BE THAT THE PLTS ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE ACTUAL WRITE-UP HAS BEEN CLRED. ALWAYS CHK THE MAINT LOG AGAIN AFTER IT IS HANDED OUT. SUBSEQUENTLY, WE DID FIND OUT THAT THE MECH IN ZZZ DID IN FACT SIGN OFF THE MAINT LOG, BUT ONLY ON THE CARBON COPY, INSTEAD OF BOTH THE ORIGINAL AND THE CARBON COPY.
