Narrative:
I filed a flight plan from dec to dsm. The filed route was direct cap direct. We were taxiing out for takeoff (at dec) before the tower opened. From the left seat I was monitoring the airport traffic frequency (118.9) and the copilot was getting our clearance through st louis radio on (122.3). We discussed the clearance prior to departure and the copilot told me we were cleared direct to dsm. We departed on runway 36 and proceeded direct dsm. Champaign departure and the first two ZAU controllers questioned our routing. I am not sure what the problem was -- whether the copilot got the clearance wrong (maybe were cleared cap instead of dsm) or whether the controllers weren't updated as to our clearance (direct dsm). I have discussed this with the copilot and he assures me we were cleared direct dsm.

Title: FA50 CREW HAD ATC QUESTION THE RTE FLOWN FROM DEC TO DSM.
Narrative: I FILED A FLT PLAN FROM DEC TO DSM. THE FILED RTE WAS DIRECT CAP DIRECT. WE WERE TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF (AT DEC) BEFORE THE TWR OPENED. FROM THE L SEAT I WAS MONITORING THE ARPT TFC FREQ (118.9) AND THE COPLT WAS GETTING OUR CLRNC THROUGH ST LOUIS RADIO ON (122.3). WE DISCUSSED THE CLRNC PRIOR TO DEP AND THE COPLT TOLD ME WE WERE CLRED DIRECT TO DSM. WE DEPARTED ON RWY 36 AND PROCEEDED DIRECT DSM. CHAMPAIGN DEP AND THE FIRST TWO ZAU CTLRS QUESTIONED OUR ROUTING. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE PROB WAS -- WHETHER THE COPLT GOT THE CLRNC WRONG (MAYBE WERE CLRED CAP INSTEAD OF DSM) OR WHETHER THE CTLRS WEREN'T UPDATED AS TO OUR CLRNC (DIRECT DSM). I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE COPLT AND HE ASSURES ME WE WERE CLRED DIRECT DSM.
